  • Design and Planning

  • Material Preparation
    According to the design requirements, prepare the required materials, including metal structural materials, packing materials, fans, water pumps, etc.
  • Metal Structure Fabrication
    According to the design drawings, the metal structure is processed by cutting, bending, welding and other processes to produce the tower shell and support structure of the cooling tower.
  • Packing Installation
    According to the design requirements, the packing is installed inside the tower shell, which can increase the contact area and improve the cooling effect.
  • Installation of Wind System
    Install fans and fan drive devices to ensure that the air system can provide sufficient air volume and pressure.
  • Installation of Water System
    Install water pumps, water tanks, and piping systems to ensure the circulation and smooth supply of cooling water to the cooling tower.

    Equipment Pressure Testing
    ● Before delivery, all heat exchanger tubes undergo online eddy current testing, followed by individual hydrostatic testing to ensure quality.● The heat exchanger tube group undergoes an overall pressure test.● After the tube bundle is fully assembled, an airtightness test is performed.

    Operational Test
    Assemble the tube bundle, frame, and fan. Perform a load test on the fan, checking air volume, vibration, noise, and current to ensure all indicators meet requirements.

    Finished Product Inspection
    The entire upper and lower boxes are pre-assembled in the factory to ensure prime coordination and coordination between all links, facilitating smooth on-site installation. A dedicated inspector reviews the appearance, welding quality, pressure test records, and flaw detection reports.

Quality Control Measures

  • Installation Precautions

    ● Avoid using it in places with multiple layers and acidic gases; otherwise, it may cause corrosion of heat exchangers and piping.

     ● Placed in a well-ventilated and clean place, within a parallel wall, and be cautious of heat dissipation failures caused by the backflow of humid and hot air. In special environments, an induced draft device may be considered.

    ● Placed next to the building, the distance between the air inlet of the cooling tower and the walls is as follows: 

    • 2 meters for single tower type, 
    • 2.5 meters for double tower type
    • 3.5 meters for three tower type
    • 5 meters or more for the four tower types and above

    The wall height should be lower than the overall height of the cooling tower. When the wall is too high, the wind direction can cause a short circuit, which can affect the performance of the cooling tower.

     ● Avoid using in chimneys and areas that can receive heat radiation.

     ● The distance between the exhaust outlet of the cooling tower and obstacles should be at least 5 meters.

     ● Gas welding, electric welding, and other open flames are not allowed at the top of the cooling tower to prevent fires.

     ● After the motor is installed and connected to the power supply, the lead-out wire from the motor junction box should be hung in a U-shape to prevent rainwater from entering along the power line, and the outlet hole should be blocked.

     ● A filter screen should be installed on the pipeline to ensure the cleanliness of the circulating water.

     ● Before trial use, weld the cooling tower feet and the pre-embedded iron plates on the foundation.

  • Precautions for Anti-freeze

    Requirements for Sprinkler System

    When the winter temperature is low in northern regions, the circulating water in a closed system may freeze even if it remains flowing without heat load. Proper anti-freezing measures must be taken:

    • Install submerged electric heaters or steam coil injectors within the piping system.
    • The specific implementation measures for adding antifreeze in a closed system can be jointly developed with our company.

    Anti-freezing Problem of Sprinkler System

    • Install an indoor insulated water tank with sufficient capacity to collect all sprinkler water for insulation during shutdown.
    • A heater is usually installed in the sprinkler tank, which is a submerged electric heater or a steam coil injector.
    • When the thermal system stops running, drain the spray water completely.

    Precautions for Low-Temperature Operation

    • Attention should be paid to the air intake louvers being covered by snow or ice; otherwise, it may cause the motor current to rise and burn out.
    • When operating the switch, ensure that there is no snow accumulation on the impeller.
    • When using low-temperature water for circulation, pay attention to freezing the water distribution tank.

  • Design Selection Precautions

    Piping Issues

    • Piping and pump valves should be installed below the operating water level of the cooling tower to prevent overflow and air intake.
    • When considering the placement of equipment, there should be sufficient water pump head, and the pressure loss along the way and the pressure loss of the cooling coil should be taken into account.
    • The interface flange pressure of the cooling tower is designed to be 1MPA, and all pipelines should be considered with hangers or supports.

    Consider the compatibility of fluids inside the coil and water replenishment

    • The fluid that needs to be cooled in a closed cooling tower must be compatible with the cooling coils; otherwise, it may cause corrosion of the coils.
    • The circulating water inside the coil of a closed system should meet the water quality requirements of the coil and production process, and can be softened water, desalinated water, or condensed water.

    Requirements for Sprinkler System

    • During the operation of the cooling tower, some water evaporates, and minerals and other impurities in the water accumulate in the water tank. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly check the water quality (pH 0.65-0.85).
    • Regular sewage cleaning can effectively control water quality and prevent scaling. Water It is recommended to clean the trough once a week in summer and once every two weeks in winter.
    • The requirements for spray water quality refer to the design specifications for industrial circulating cooling water treatment. In areas with particularly poor water quality, softening treatment should be considered, and zinc impregnated steel plate water tanks should be used. If the pH value exceeds 0.85, passivation treatment is required (please contact our company or consult a professional water treatment specialist for details).
    • The supplementary amount of spray water: (evaporation rate ≤ 0.8% of flow rate)+(float rate<0.1%)+(discharge rate<0.3%)=(<1.2% of circulating flow rate).
  • Precautions for Operation
    • Check if the circulating water reaches the standard water volume.
    • Pay attention to noise, vibration, and current values, and handle any abnormalities as soon as possible.
    • Do not inject circulating water that exceeds the heat-resistant temperature of the packing. When the fan is stopped and circulating water flows in, special attention should be paid to avoid causing the packing to bend and deform.
